**Work performed during employment at StructureTone.
A new and expanded Princeton University Art Museum. The building will be shared with the Department of Art & Archaeology and Marquand Library. Located on the historic campus, positioned between Elm Drive and Chapel Drive along McCosh Walk, on the site of the existing Museum. Dimensions: 144,000 gross square feet, located on three floors.
Civil Coordination
During the design phase, Prefix coordinated the underground planning and civil design.
The coordinated design eliminated several manholes, and avoided costly disruption to an existing historic book collection.
Custom Structural Resolution
The galleries were designed with unique glulam beams. There were multiple iterations on how to design angle beams that also ‘hid’ sprinklers. This unique concept had several code and maintenance accessibility requirements that the team spent months trying to solve.
Prefix was able to develop a customized beam detail with integrated sprinkler heads that met the design requirements.
