National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL)
Project Type: Research Lab
Service: PreCoordination + PreFabrication
Client: Boston University
**Work partially performed during employment at American Plumbing.
A research facility designed for cutting edge research on infectious diseases. It includes Bio-Safety Level 2,3, and 4 laboratories, a vivarium, and state of the art equipment. The facility is home to microbiologists, virologists, and other scientists developing diagnostics and therapeutics for a variety of pathogens.
The facility was designed and constructed with the highest level of attention to community and laboratory safety and security.
Prefix Pre-Coordinated the project, which meant modeling the whole project to fabrication level detail and solving coordination issues while the building was still being designed.
Advanced Coordination
During CDs, the Prefix team modeled the architecture, structure, and MEP systems to a near fabrication level. This included all equipment, which made up several floors of densely packed systems feeding the laboratories. Prefix modeled every floor down to the hangar and conduit to ensure everything was constructible.
